Supermarkets, restaurants, convenience stores and other food service establishments seeking energy savings now benefit by simply replacing antique mechanical timers with modern optical controllers.

Recent independent test results confirm Ice*Meister™ suppresses at least half of wasted defrost cycles, keeps food colder. Compressors works less to hold a given food temperature, less defrost energy is used, energy is saved.

Ice*Meister™ Model 9734-REFR defrost controller installs directly on evaporator coils at the factory, or is retrofitted is in the field.  Unit uses invisible light to monitor the silhouette of evaporator coils. Frost disrupts the silhouette, initiates defrost cycle. As frost disappears, 9734 stops defrosting when silhouette returns to normal. Simple, robust, easy to use.

Solid as a brick. Eliminates all moving parts. Increases reliability. Unit controls defroster to sweep back-and-forth across ice formation threshold in real time. Keeps evaporator coils virtually frost-free allowing maximum heat transfer and best operating efficiency.

Keeps food colder and saves energy five ways:

"This is the first really new development in refrigerator control since the 1960s, when self-defrosting refrigerators first came on the scene," notes Richard Hackmeister, Vice President at New Avionics Corp. "Historically, there has been a terrible waste of electricity in refrigerators because of the open-loop nature of defrosting – there is no relationship between the appearance of offending frost on evaporator coils,  and the time of day. Now, for the first time ever, new Model 9734-REFR closes that loop.  It's GREEN," he says.
