Reactive Technologies' solution, Tradenergy®, is a cloud based platform that employs IT to overcome the challenges of the industry's structural legacies. In countries where DSM is only offered to energy intensive customers, Tradenergy® widens the access to DSM to a significantly greater section of commercial and industrial customers and a greater proportion of their assets that ultimately make up their annual energy bill.

Despite being a young start-up, it has gained major corporate customer and partner support to allow the safe, accurate and reliable remote control of energy consumption at such assets as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and freezer units and renewable generation/storage assets.  By working with major controls partners, Reactive Technologies is also helping to greatly enhance the end-customer benefits from normal controls investments, providing equal or greater value than just energy efficiency savings alone.

"Reactive Technologies demonstrates a deep understanding of the marketplace by emphasising the IT angle of its solution," said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Yiru Zhong. "Unlike other industrial vendor solutions that require operational asset investments, Tradenergy® does not require any change at all on its customers' topology."

The company has been able to make deep inroads into its conservative end-user base on the strength of its cost efficiency. Tradenergy® does not require energy companies to invest heavily on operational assets such as storage capacity or network reinforcement. Instead, the IT- and cloud-based solution rapidly identifies the type of assets that can be connected and integrated to the grid, and features a dashboard screen for managing and monitoring these assets.

Tradenergy® opens up new routes to market as the ICT channel is also actively developing its own machine to machine/ Internet of Things (M2M/IoT) businesses. The solution could be useful in adjacent applications such as energy efficiency programs.

"Reactive Technologies' faith in an IT-based solution has resulted in a portfolio of 65 patents after just four years in operation," noted Zhong. "The core assets of the company are these patents, which form the intellectual property of the Tradenergy® platform."

Overall, due to its strong performance and disruptive IT solutions, Reactive Technologies has earned Frost & Sullivan's 2015 Entrepreneurial Company of the Year Award.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in devising a strong growth strategy and robustly implementing it. The recipient has shown strength in terms of innovation in products and technologies, leadership in customer value as well as speed in response to market needs. In short, the award looks at the emerging market players in the industry and recognises their best practices that are positioned for future growth excellence.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices awards recognise companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
