The production of starch in Russia grew by 30% for 2005-2010. The major source for starch in Russia is Corn, followed by wheat and potato. Tula region is the largest supplier of starch in domestic production. The share of Tula region in the production of starch during the years 2009, 2010 were 26% and 29% respectively. For the year 2011 it provided one fourth of the total domestic starch production in Russia. It should be noted that Tula region use wheat as a raw material in the manufacturing of the starch. In the rest of the regions in Russia, maize starch is more common.
The export of starch from Russia in 2011 was majorly for the two countries, Ukraine and Uzbekistan with 64.3% and 22%. In Q1 of 2012 the export of starch increased by more than 5 times.
