Juan Cartagena, CEO at Traity, said: "We found that most people use sharing economy services as a new source of income, but many people simply do not even know that a service exists to leverage their skills or assets. Coming from Spain, with 47% in youth unemployment, and with all the current debate at the WEF in Davos about inequality unemployment as a major global risk, we thought we could just help people discover economic opportunities by putting all those marketplaces together."

From carsharing with SocialCar where their users are making 2,000 euros per year, room-swapping with Room4exchange, to marketplaces for exchanging abilities like Swapsee, the apps on Markets are curated to help people discover those economic opportunities, with two main categories: "Save money" and "Earn money".

Traity Launches Markets to Help People Find Unemployment Alternatives

Cartagena has previously advocated the idea of the micropreneur, a "producer-citizen" who can leverage technology to provide goods and services any time and any where, in order to make a significant dent on unemployment. People are now finding new ways to fill their income gaps by driving for services like Uber or renting their spare rooms. Traity's survey suggests that this is a primary source of income for many people rather than just a gig. 72% of users fill important income gaps, 26% use these services because they believe in a more sustainable lifestyle, and only 2% use them for making new friends.

Markets was developed as part of Traity's "Serendipity Fridays", an adaptation of Google's "20% time for new ideas", as a sidekick for their main reputation app.
