The accolade recognises the success of Anglia Ruskin Distance Learning, which was first launched by the University in 2010 to widen participation and to offer Higher Education to individuals who might otherwise not have access.

Using a dedicated website as the hub and in partnership with MediaCo, the leading Internet Marketing agency, Anglia Ruskin set about raising awareness of the affordable and compelling Higher Education opportunities which were available off-campus and easily accessible via the internet.

To date, the activity has been targeted towards people who are unable or do not wish to learn in a traditional campus-based environment, and to employers who wish staff to increase their skills without them spending time away from the workplace.

With MediaCo, Anglia Ruskin University has tailored a dedicated website - http://distancelearning.anglia.ac.uk/ - to meet the needs of prospective students, including ease of access to course information, real-time chat, multi-media content and social media integration.

In addition, targeted marketing initiatives have been undertaken to broaden the reach of the initiative and ensure as many people as possible are aware of how they can enhance their lives and career development through flexible Higher Education at a distance.

A presence and engagement with students has also been developed on the major social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

This success has now been recognised as Anglia Ruskin University, in partnership with MediaCo, have been named as a finalist in the Digital Marketing category of the CIM Marketing Excellence Awards 2012.

Now in its fourth year, the Chartered Institute of Marketing awards celebrate the best marketing achievements across various industry sectors.

The CIM Marketing Excellence Awards ceremony will take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, on March 6, 2013, where winners will be announced.
