Insurance industry law firm, Horwich Farrelly, has significantly bolstered its already market-leading expertise overnight with the recruitment, today, of seven partners and 36 other lawyers and support staff from the Parabis Group.

Most of the new additions were previously with defendant firm Greenwoods before its merger with the Plexus Law division of Parabis in 2013.  They include partners Malcolm Henke, Rod Evans, Jane Hall and Chris Crook, all of whom are well known and highly respected in the market for their catastrophic and high value personal injury claims expertise.  Malcolm Henke will assume the role of Head of Catastrophic Injury and Large Loss PI for Horwich Farrelly, leading a combined team of more than 50 highly experienced individuals in this growing area of claims.

Commenting on the appointments Horwich Farrelly partner Ronan McCann said:  "Malcolm has an enviable reputation in the insurance industry for his approach to catastrophic injury and large loss cases and has been stalked by many of our competitors over the years.  In addition, his fellow partners and colleagues have handled ground-breaking cases that have set the benchmark for defendant insurance work over the last decade.  It is therefore tremendously exciting to bring on-board such a wealth of experience in this way.  We immediately gain undeniably market-leading expertise in the catastrophic personal injury area as well as significantly reinforcing our services for lower value motor and casualty claims."

Malcolm Henke said: "My colleagues and I are absolutely delighted to be joining such a progressive and growing firm. On a personal level I am looking forward to leading what is now undoubtedly the largest and most experienced catastrophic and large loss team in the market, and helping Horwich Farrelly to achieve further success in this critical area for insurers"

The additional personnel will increase the total number of Horwich Farrelly's staff to 660 and also strengthen the firm's geographical reach, both in London and through the opening of a new office in Southampton to accommodate around 20 ex-Parabis partners and employees.

Rod Evans, former FOIL President, who will head up the Southampton office said: "Horwich Farrelly's commitment to quality and willingness to invest in improving their services for clients sets them apart from the rest of the market and is why I am looking forward to our future with the firm."
