Tel Aviv (in ebraico: תל אביב-יפו letteralmente: Collina della primavera; arabo: تَلْ أَبِيبْ - يَافَا Tal Abīb-Yāfā) è una città israeliana sulla costa del Mar Mediterraneo. Tel Aviv è anche il centro dell'area metropolitana più grande e popolosa in Israele, denominata Gush Dan (Blocco di Dan). È il principale centro economico di Israele.La giurisdizione di Tel Aviv-Giaffa è di 50,6 km². La densità di popolazione è di 7.445 persone per km² secondo le stime dell'Ufficio Centrale Israeliano di Statistica, riferite al settembre 2005, quando la popolazione della città ammontava a 876.700, in costante crescita a un tasso annuo dell'1 %. Il 96,1 % dei residenti sono ebrei, mentre il 3,0 % sono arabi musulmani e lo 0,9 % sono arabi cristiani. Secondo alcune stime circa 50.000 lavoratori stranieri non regolarizzati vivono a Tel Aviv.
L'area metropolitana più grande comprende un numero di municipalità separate con circa 3,840,100 di abitanti nell'agglomerato lungo i 14 km della costa mediterranea. Bat Yam, Holon, Ramat Gan, Giv'atayim, Bnei Brak, Petah Tikva, Rishon LeZion, Ramat HaSharon e Herzliya sono nell'ordine le maggiori città nell'area Gush Dan. (fonte: Wikipedia)
