POLIMODATALENT at Milan Design Week

Make room for talent and creative energy. During Milan Design Week POLIMODATALENT presents a special installation of designer Erïk Bjerkesjö, originally from Stockholm and former student of the master course in Footwear and Accessories Design. POLIMODATALENT is a launching-pad devoted to former Polimoda students, a way to let the public know about the best and most talented students to come out of Polimoda. Not only designers, but also brand managers, event and marketing managers, content curators and web graphic designers, pattern makers, retailers and trend forecasters: they all studied at Polimoda and are now either engaged in successful careers or are about to start their journey on an interesting career path.

“It’s a great opportunity to introduce my work at Mauro Grifoni’ store during the Milan Design Week” comments Erïk Bjerkesjö. “My items are inspired by the skill of Tuscan artisans I work with, sharing a passion for handmade details and clothing wearability. Shoes and clothing are made by a postmodern artisan, a collection which represents my interpretation of Tuscany with the memories of the island where I grew up, outside Stockholm”.

 

Mauro Grifoni’s flagship store, 17 Via Santo Spirito Milan, from April 17 to 22 will concurrently host on its three floors, three projects dedicated to new emerging designers. The first talent chosen by Polimoda is Erïk Bjerkesjö, who after successfully graduating launched his own collection of clothing and accessories, marked by a minimal and contemporary appearance, typical of the Swedish style. For the event Erïk Bjerkesjö presents a range of men’s footwear produced by expert Tuscan craftsmen and characterised by a state-of-the art branded sole: a detail that embodies consummate mastery in the creation of products of the very highest quality. Also showcased will be some iconic items from his line accompanied by suggestive video projections.

 

Erïk’s fashion is meant to define a new concept of male elegance, proposing lines that recall the sober silhouettes of the early twentieth century, but with decisive cuts, sculpted shapes, slim-fit pants and an intense colour palette. The colours take inspiration from quill-pen inks: black, lead grey and every shade capable of giving a mysterious, austere and undeniably striking allure. Precise details, precious materials and exquisite leathers, for a modern gentleman passionate about the most innovative tailoring.
